On a day-to-day basis, college can be extremely stressful, overwhelming, and tiring. Oftentimes, it feels like there’s nowhere to recharge and unwind, which can be very frustrating. Now that I’m a junior, I can confidently say I’ve nailed making my dorm room feel as comfortable and relaxing as possible. Here are some tips to help you get the most out of your college experience and make your space feel like home!
The first thing I recommend is getting an essential oil diffuser! While I love candles, many colleges don’t allow them since they’re fire hazards. Luckily, essential oil diffusers do the trick. I personally love lavender scents; they not only freshen up my space but also help me feel more relaxed, which is always a plus during stressful moments. This essential oil diffuser is adorable and will pair well with any space!
Next, I suggest getting a noise machine. Dorms can be noisy, making it hard to sleep, study, or even relax. Being able to block out the background noise is so helpful and lets you focus on what matters in the moment. There are plenty of affordable options on Amazon. I swear by mine, it has completely changed my sleep for the better!
Of course, I cannot forget to mention that having a couple of cozy blankets on hand is so crucial! Whether you are sitting in bed, at your desk, or have friends over, you always need a blanket. I’ve heard that Lola Blankets are worth the hype so I will definitely be looking into them to elevate my space.
Last, but certainly not least, I have been loving the look of paper lantern lights like these 5-point star lanterns. Personally, I hate the overheard dorm lighting, it is so harsh and makes the space look so much less homey. Adding an alternate light source always makes it much cozier, warmer, and adds some personality to your space.
With an overwhelming amount of assignments, commitments, and pressure, it is important that your space is a place where you can find some much needed peace!
