It’s no secret that college can be a challenging time for people, socially, academically, or a mix of both. It is important to not only expand your social circles and meet new people, but also excel in the classroom. Oftentimes, it is not talked about how difficult it is to balance both of these expectations. You can be the most social and academic person, however if you are not organized it may all come crumbling down. Throughout the arguably most transformative years of your life, it is crucial to stay on top of your tasks, commitments, and responsibilities to be the best version of yourself. Here are a couple of tips to set yourself up for success for this upcoming school year!
Buy a Planner
My biggest tip is to buy a journal or planner to keep track of your schedule, commitments, and assignments. There is no doubt that things can become overwhelming on a day to day basis in college, it is easy to have something slip your mind. Having a planner to keep track of what you need to do and when you need to do it, will put your mind at ease! Also, there are so many brands that make adorable and affordable planners. There will be no more forgetting to hand in assignments, missing important meetings, and even letting other people down with forgetfulness.

Prepare Your Bag
When unpacking your dorm and organizing your belongings, it is easy to forget about preparing your school bag and school supplies. Before the first day of class, put aside time to pack your bag and ensure you have everything you need. Make sure you throw in some pencils and pens, highlighters, a notebook, your favorite type of gum, your water bottle (side note: I love this one from Owala), and any other supplies that will prepare you best. The first day of class is most important to set yourself up for the rest of the year, you will want to be prepared and on time!

3. Set Up Your Calendar
Now that you are ready to take on your classes, it is time to focus on your own needs. Although you may have your planner, I always love to use my calendar app on my phone or my reminders app to ensure I have my schedule mapped out. It is always helpful to visualize what your day will look like. You will be able to get a feel for gaps of time where you can work on assignments, hangout with friends, workout, or have some downtime. You want to make sure you are not spreading yourself too thin. Make sure you have time for yourself because your wellbeing matters above all else.
