Los Angeles is amazing for so many reasons, but one of our personal favs is the food. There are so many different cuisines and whether you’re looking for a fancy date night, a chill restaurant when you’re catching up with your girls, or a carb-filled hangover meal, LA has it all.
But with so many different options, it can be really overwhelming to decide. Let MUUZ guide you and show you some of our favorite Los Angeles picks.
1. WAKE AND LATE (105 E 6th St, Los Angeles, CA 90014)
Starting off strong, we have WAKE AND LATE. While they have bagels and drinks as well, they are notorious for their breakfast burritos. Whether you’re looking for a hearty meal, you had a rough night out and need some sustenance the next day, you’re vegetarian or vegan, or all of the above—WAKE AND LATE reigns supreme. Their food is delicious and the breakfast burritos run from $15-$18.
2. Heavy Handed (2912 Main St, Santa Monica, CA 90405)
Smashburgers are all the hype right now. There are a million places in Los Angeles where you can get them, but Heavy Handed is my favorite. With burgers made of beef short rib, homemade bread, and fries fried in beef tallow, you are sure to get a delicious bite that satisfies all of your burger cravings. They also have chocolate-dipped ice cream cones and Heavy Fries (comparable to In-N-Out Animal Fries iykyk ;)) if you’re looking for something to go with that burger. The seating area is all outdoor and perfect for a casual but flavorful meal. Their single burger is $9, each additional patty adds $2, and a regular fries is $4)
3. Sadaf Restaurant (16240 Ventura Blvd, Eninco, CA 91436 )
As a Persian living in Los Angeles, I would be remiss not to include one of LA’s amazing Persian Kabob restaurants. Sadaf offers a menu that encompasses a wide variety of the best Persian appetizers and entrees, with options for vegetarians as well. If you’ve never had Persian food and love trying new restaurants this is sure to be a success for you. While Sadaf definitely is not the place to come in sweatpants, a nice pair of jeans and a cute top will be the perfect outfit for a meal here. Appetizers range from $7-$21 while entrees are upwards of $20 and the perfect size for sharing and tasting)
4. Jon&Vinny’s (412 North Fairfax Avenue, Los Angeles, CA)
In LA it feels like there are so many Italian restaurants it’s impossible to figure out which ones are worth going to. If you’re looking for a modern, fresh, and unique twist on Italian food, and a restaurant that isn't too casual but won’t force you to come in heels and a dress either, Jon & Vinny’s is the place for you. From the “Salad Days” pizza that literally has a salad ON TOP of it, to the classic and famous Spicy Fusili pasta, Jon & Vinny’s is exciting, trendy, and even has a breakfast menu. Pasta’s range from $15.50-$24.25 and pizza’s from $14.25-$24.50.
5. Sushi Fumi (359 N La Cienega Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90048)
I don’t know about you guys but sushi is one of my favorite foods. I’ve tried so many sushi restaurants in LA and am always down when somebody suggests we get sushi for dinner. But when you’re eating sushi, quality is so important. That’s why I love Sushi Fumi; their sushi is some of the best taste and quality I’ve had in LA, and there are a lot of sushi places here. From celebrity sightings to amazing food, they have it all. The vibe here is upscale casual; some jeans and your go-to dinner top will do. Simple cut rolls range from $6-$13 while specialty rolls all lie around $20 *They do not take reservations so make sure to get there a little early to put your name down.
6. Teddy’s Red Tacos (Locations all over Los Angeles, check their website for the location closest to you)
There’s one thing I’m sure about. Los Angeles has some of the best authentic Mexican food in the United States. Every time my friends and I crave Birria Tacos, we go straight to Teddy’s. With beef consomme that comforts me on the coldest days, to tacos that satisfy my need for a good crunch, their food is delicious. One of the best parts: whether
you’re in jeans or don’t want to leave the house in anything but sweatpants and a hoodie, Teddy’s is the place to be.
7. Night+Market (3322 W Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles,CA 90026)
Some of the most flavorful Thai food, and I’ve never had something from the menu that I did not LOVE. Whether you want a fun date night at a vibrant place, or a family-style dinner with the girls, Night + Market is perfect. The best part: no matter who you bring, and what their dietary restrictions are, there are gluten-free and vegan options. Noodle, rice, and salad dishes all peak at $18, and specialties are from $18-$40.
8. Marvin (8114 Beverly Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90048)
I cannot rave enough about Marvin. The menu is phenomenal, and the vibes are modern and busy, with unique interior design, and the energy of a restaurant in New York City. I’ve had amazing dinners with friends here but this would also be such a great double date spot. The cuisine is French food, and the perfect outfit would be something upscale but not too fancy, that you feel confident in. Their pasta dishes range from $20-$35 and appetizers from $15-$30, + if you don’t order the “Toffee Date Cake” you haven’t lived.
9. Elephante (1332 2nd St. Rooftop, Santa Monica, CA 90401)
If you’re looking for a restaurant that allows you to experience that Los Angeles beach vibe, while still being chic and sparing you the sand getting all over your cute outfit, Elephante is the place to be. With the “Whipped Eggplant” and “Spicy Vodka” pasta being the stars of the show, Elephante brings both a menu for all tastes, and a vibe perfect for a birthday lunch or a date. The perfect outfit for a meal here would be upscale and trendy, plus bright and airy to go with the cool ocean vibe not too far from the restaurant. The pastas range from $17-$30 and the pizza $20-$28.
10. The Bigg Chill (10850 W Olympic Blvd, Los Angeles, CA 90064)
My favorite dessert spot in Los Angeles. The Bigg Chill is an LA staple, and will forever be my go-to for a sweet treat. Whether you’re getting dessert with your friends, or need a spot for a quick and casual last minute date, you have found the right place. Their menu includes a daily rotation of frozen yogurt flavors (with dairy free and no-sugar added options for anyone with dietary restrictions) and such a wide array of toppings (the cookie dough is my personal fav and I will never leave without getting it). My tip: Check their Instagram or website for the daily flavors. *Cash-only establishment
I love that LA has so many food options, but when you’re indecisive like me, a good suggestion is sometimes exactly what you need. Whether you live in LA, you’re here on a girl's trip, or anything in between, we hope MUUZ caught some of your favs and introduced you to some future favs as well <3
