New York City in summer is absolutely a world of its own—hot, lively, and chaotic. Whether
you’re a local looking to refresh your weekend routine or a visitor trying to soak up as much city energy as possible, here’s your go-to guide for experiencing the best of NYC in the warmer months.
1. Shopping in SoHo
No summer in NYC is complete without a stroll through SoHo. With cobblestone streets and a mix of flagship stores and trendy boutiques, it’s a haven for fashion lovers. I love to pop into Reformation for their summer dresses or Brandy Melville for basics perfect for weekend lounging. Don’t forget to browse local pop-ups and vintage shops—hidden gems are honestly everywhere.
2. Central Park

Central Park is at its best in the summer. Pack a picnic—think fresh fruit, cold drinks, and
something sweet—and head to Sheep Meadow or The Great Lawn for a lazy afternoon. Make sure you bring your speaker and great company. For something a little more adventurous, rent a rowboat from the park.
3. Dinner Picks
Warm evenings call for outdoor dining or cozy, air-conditioned interiors with incredible food. My favorites include Thai Villa in Flatiron, which serves up rich curries and vibrant street-style dishes. Another favorite is L'Artusi in the West Village. Their pizza is everything! Lastly, Paesano’s in Little Italy is your go-to for rustic Italian comfort food that hits every time.
