Liv Schreiber, a social media icon with hundreds of thousands of followers and a fixture of New York City’s social scene, took the time to speak with me about everything from city life and dating to MUUZes, events, and what it means to be a leader and voice for young women nationwide.
During our conversation, Liv shared how she first began creating content. She explained that after graduating a year early from the University of Wisconsin with a degree in journalism, she was unsure what she wanted to do with her life, but knew she wanted to help people. After spending time abroad in Australia, she also knew there was no way she was going back to Wisconsin’s freezing cold. She ended up working in real estate, and while stuck in a job she did not find fulfilling, she began posting uplifting quotes on Instagram to motivate herself and ultimately became an “accidental influencer”.
When asked who her role model is, Liv said without hesitation, “My family.” She explained that in her everyday life, she tries to take after her grandmother and great-grandmother, who were strong, “incredibly smart Jewish women.”
When it comes to content creation, Liv explained that she wants to create content that brings her audience value and happiness. She also added that, for aspiring content creators, it’s important to always prioritize quality over quantity, emphasizing that it doesn’t matter how many Instagram stories you post in a day, but rather the content you produce to uplift your audience.

When asked how Hot and Social and Camp Social began, Liv explained that her social media platform would get flooded with questions on how to meet people, friends, or partners, and she didn’t really know where to direct them. So she threw a party under the name Hot and Social. The premise: everyone shows up single but leaves as friends, with some even getting married down the road. From there, Liv started Camp Social, where over 500 women attend each weekend, and top brands sponsor the event, helping relive the glory days of overnight camp while making friends and building lasting memories.
When asked about dating advice, Liv emphasized that rejection is protection and that you should never chase a man who does not treat you right. She explained that when you’re with a guy who makes you feel calm and cared for, the way you deserve to be treated, that is the type of relationship you should be pursuing.
When it comes to giving advice to young women following their dreams, whether or not they are influenced, Liv emphasized the importance of keeping going and staying consistent. She repeated, “Consistency is the name of the game.” Additionally, Liv explained that it is all about “collaboration instead of competition.” She also emphasized the idea that rejection is a form of redirection, noting how getting a million “no’s” makes the one “yes” an indescribably proud moment.
I think we can all agree that Liv is a national big sister, whether it is offering advice, creating fun in the city, or simply being a friend. Her authentic presence makes everyone feel comfortable, confident, and ready for whatever is hot and social.
