I don’t know about you guys, but saying goodbye to my summer skincare routine has never been easy.

My summer routine is as dear to me as an old friend. Simple, reliable, sentimental even. The feeling of washing my face after going in the ocean and that glowy, effortless look after my post-beach routine– ugh, there’s nothing quite like it. It’s difficult to pack away those feelings along with my products. Yet, as the sun sets sooner and the air gets cooler, we must remember that our skin just needs some extra love and care. If you’re feeling particularly blue about the changing weather, check out this insightful and uplifting article that prompts you to welcome the fall and all of its festivities.

Don’t be too alarmed, we certainly have a few months left of warm (bordering blazing) weather, but now is certainly the time to start looking for your fall must-haves. Here are a few of my wishlist items and personal favorites specifically suited for dry and sensitive skin.

Step One: Cleanser, of Course

OUAI is a brand that’s mostly known for their well-acclaimed hair care products, but they also have some really good skincare. The Detox Face Cleanser is a face wash that aims to clean without irritating and freshen without dryness. Dermatologist approved and considered one of the best face washes out there, this should certainly be on your list.

Step Two: Toners & Essences

I used to skip this step entirely until I found this product. Beauty of Joseon’s Glow Replenishing Rice Milk toner is not a want, but a need for this upcoming fall. It not only hydrates and refreshes, but it also ensures a glowy look. This is accomplished through its dual formula, a rice-infused moisture layer and a sebum-control powder layer. Clinically proven to be non-irritating, this product will save your skin from any dryness this fall.

Step Three: A Revitalizing Serum

If you want a serum that revitalizes your skin during the colder months, I highly recommend Beauty of Joseon’s Revive Serum. In the cooler weather, our skin tends to lose its elasticity, causing more dryness and wrinkles. This serum actively counters that. The formula, made with ginseng and snail mucin, is designed to firm, refresh, and hydrate for a bouncier look. This product saved my skin last winter, so naturally, I must include it in this list.

Step Four: A Moisturizer That Actually Moisturizes

Now I've dabbled in my fair share of moisturizers, many of which have left me feeling drier than before I applied them. The Neutrogena Hydro Boost Gel Cream, though, is one that has never disappointed me. Made with Hyaluronic Acid, this moisturizer combats dehydration effortlessly and leaves you with a cool and refreshed feeling. It's simple, incredibly effective, and highly accessible! You can find this product in stores near you, such as Ulta, Amazon, and Target.

Other than cooler weather, there are many different factors in our lives that can have an impact on our skin. Even simple things such as changes in our schedule, stress, and lack of sleep can cause irritation and affect our skin health. As summer closes and we creep closer to those fall school and work routines, it's important that we take care of ourselves in more ways than one. This article outlines a few ways to nurture yourself during the fall and winter season. In little acts, we can lift ourselves up and connect to our inner worlds on a deeper level.

Skincare is more than just a routine; it is an outlet and stress reliever. Check out this article that describes the positive impact of self-care. Although I highly recommend these products, what matters is that you are comfortable with your routine. So, with that said, I hope these suggestions help you cozy up this fall, and as always, wear sunscreen. Here’s a few to keep in mind.
