Tate McRae

Tate McCrae is the Gen Z it-girl of the moment. Her style is effortlessly cool, she always exudes sexy confidence, and her newest album, “So Close to What,” is full of addicting pop princess hits.

If you’re like me and have been hitting repeat on this album all week, read on to find out my suggestions for your weekend plans based on which song you’ve been feeling the most.

Miss Possessive – Date Night In

At its core, this song is about being so secure in a relationship that you want them all to yourself. I’m so in on reclaiming “possessive”; Why should possessive be bad? If you’ve been belting this track out in your room all week, I prescribe a night in with your significant other. What’s better than a little one-on-one time? Drink some wine or a mocktail, turn on a movie, and truly savor each other’s company.

Dear God – Girls Night Out

“Dear God” is one of my favorites on the album because it is so relatable. Tate perfectly captures the struggle of trying to move on from someone who isn’t good for you. If this has been your go- to song because it hits a little too close to home, I suggest a night out with your girls. There’s no better feeling than a girls' night out with the people who support you through it all. Get all dressed up, turn on Tate’s new album, make some fun cocktails at home, and head out for a night that will hopefully take your mind off things.

Purple Lace Bra – Solo Night In

If you haven’t watched Tate explain the meaning of this song on Jake Shane’s podcast, I recommend you listen ASAP! This song is a gorgeous commentary about the media’s influence on teen girls, and its lyrics are unfortunately so relatable for many of us. If you’ve been humming this melody all week and ruminating over the metaphors in the lyrics, you should take some time to hang out with yourself this weekend. Have a solo night in and reflect. Journal, read, or order some takeout – whatever your heart desires. Just devote some time to caring for yourself.

Greenlight – Girls Wine Night In

If you’re still “waiting at the greenlight” for someone or getting in your feels reminiscing on old times, I would suggest a girls’ night in. Invite all your girls over, open some wine, and unplug together! Turn that phone or computer off and spend some time reconnecting with your friends by playing games, baking a dessert, or even watching a show. Girl time is always the best medicine!

I Know Love (feat. The Kid Laroi) – Date Night Out

“I Know Love” is for all the relationship girlies. If you’re obsessed with this catchy love song and equally obsessed with Tate and The Kid Laroi’s relationship, your weekend should involve a fun date night out. Sometimes, when you’re in a relationship and see each other all the time, it’s hard to make time for intentional date nights, but they make all the difference! This weekend, plan to try a new restaurant or bar and spend some quality time together.
