Coffee

As we reach the end of college and the beginning of our post-grad lives, it is essential to find things that excite you and bring you joy outside of your 9-5. Maybe it’s just me, but from social media, it seems like the next popular phase after getting your degree is running a marathon. If you are like me, and not joining run club any time soon, here are 5 hobbies you can try instead.

Reading

Be honest, when was the last time you read purely for enjoyment? Reading is a great way to

learn new things and disconnect from our phones. Book clubs are also increasing in popularity with young people, so keep an eye out for one near you. Not sure where to start? Check out these addicting spring reads.

Volunteering

Volunteering at a local organization is a perfect way to give back and get to know your

community better. Many charities will have information for new volunteers on their websites,

and may offer virtual training or orientations. For example, if you love animals, consider contacting a local shelter to see if you can help. Tiktok creator Olivia Boblet makes inspiring content about her journey with fostering dogs and volunteering at her local shelter. Additional examples could be working at a food bank, tutoring kids, or even environmental work. No matter your passion, finding an outlet where you can provide your help is a fulfilling way to spend time.

Cooking + Baking

My entire saved video tab on Tiktok is recipes! It is time to buy some ingredients and try a new recipe. Try making a new dinner, or bring some homemade cookies to your next girls night. Cooking and baking are skills that develop over time through practice, so do not stress if your endeavour ends in your favorite take-out every now and then, you’re learning!

This spring, try some no bake granola bars if you’re a newer chef, or some lemon poppy seed bread if you’re more experienced.
