Long story short- no!
Have you ever been scrolling on TikTok, minding your own business, when you stumble across some “friendship advice”? Maybe you were already in your feels about a friend, or maybe you were just having an off day, but suddenly you’re sucked into the loop. If any of these phrases sound familiar to you, such as “cut anyone off who hasn’t reached out” … you’ve been hit with toxic advice.
I’ll be honest, I’ve definitely fallen into the TikTok trap before. And let me tell you, it’s one of those decisions I regret to this day. I actually dropped friendships because a random TikTok told me to. Who are we to listen to TikTok for advice when the person behind the post could have a toxic mentality, and no one would know? It’s important to find reliable advice and not rely on the internet to soothe us.
So before letting a tiktok anger you, take a step back and think. What does this person bring to my life? Can we talk through our issues- or have we really outgrown each other? Have you stopped to consider they may be going through something in their personal life that is impacting their ability to reach out?
Because here's the truth: sometimes TikTok isn’t giving wisdom. It is important to ask the people you trust for advice, and to think things through for yourself before blindly obeying the FYP.
