To the class of 2025,

Graduating from college is beyond exciting, but it can also bring feelings of stress. You want to take the time to be proud of yourself, but also have to plan every outfit, dinner, and photo sesh.

As a 2024 grad, here are some tips and tricks that helped make for an amazing graduation

experience, and a few things I wish I knew.

Plan Ahead

By this time in April you probably have a lot of the preliminary things already planned, which is great! Here are a few things to remember.

1. Food!

Depending on your college town, many of the restaurants may be extremely crowded

during graduation week. Be sure to make reservations ahead of time or order catering. My roommates and our families ordered catering before our ceremony and it was an

absolute lifesaver.

Let others help! If parents or friends want to take a load off of you, welcome the support.

2. Outfits!

Knowing what you are going to wear eliminates so much stress from getting ready. Plan

your outfits ahead of time for your dinners, ceremonies, and maybe even your next day

Here are a few of my favorite stores to shop for graduation dresses:

3. Parking + Hotel Logistics

So much stress will be alleviated if you and your relatives know the parking and hotel

situations ahead of time. Trust me, it is stressful to have your entire family hanging

around your college apartment that has a white board of everyone’s “boy rankings of the

week.” So be sure you know when you will have them over, and where they should be

otherwise.

  1. Let Your Relatives Snap Their Pictures

Remember that everyone is there to celebrate you and that they are beyond proud, and will

probably be shoving an iPhone in your face. My advice is to let it happen, and even encourage candid shots. When I was leaving my graduation with my friends, I got separated from my parents and did not realize they were behind me, and my dad ended up taking my absolute favorite video of my best friends and I. Yes, sometimes they zoom in or their finger is in the corner, but these memories will last a lifetime!

  1. Take a Deep Breath

Everything may not go to plan, and that’s okay. Beyond all the planning and pictures remember that this is a celebration of your hard work and dedication, and you should take the time to be proud of yourself. YOU DID IT!

The Final Details

Lastly, I’ll get entirely real about the experience. One, you probably won’t sleep much, so

caffeine is your best friend. Two, if your ceremony is on a footbal field and/or requires alot of walking, do NOT wear heels. Flats or even sneakers are your best friend! Wear you heels to your dinners or small ceremonies. And lastly, having a water and advil next to your bed side doesn’t hurt.

Have an amazing graduation.

XOXO,

A 2024 Graduate
