While NYC is overflowing with incredible dining options, only a handful of restaurants
go beyond just serving a meal. These spots combine carefully crafted dishes with live jazz,
creating a truly unforgettable atmosphere. From intimate, tucked-away lounges to legendary venues with decades of history, each spot offers its distinct flavor on the plate and the stage. Speaking from firsthand experience, here are my top 3 picks from the NYC jazz scene.
Tomi Jazz
Tucked away in Midtown Manhattan, Tomi Jazz is the fuse of authentic Japanese dining
with the charm of a hidden jazz bar. The restaurant opens daily at 5:00 PM, welcoming guests into an intimate setting where prepared dishes pair perfectly with live music.
Important things to note: A $10 music cover charge applies per person, with a two-hour
maximum table limit to ensure all guests can enjoy the experience. Entry is open to those under 21, though guests under 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. Seating operates strictly on a first-come, first-served basis.
With its inviting atmosphere and speakeasy-style charm, Tomi Jazz remains a beloved
destination for both jazz enthusiasts and food lovers in New York City. If you're more into a
reserved, hole-in-the-wall vibe, then Tomi Jazz is right up your alley. I've waited two hours for a table for two, and while some might call this spot overrated, I consider it a must-try—and I already can’t wait to go back.

Birdland Jazz Club
World-renowned as the flagship venue of Midtown’s jazz revival, Birdland Jazz Club has
been setting the standard for live music in New York City since 1949. Nicknamed “The Jazz
Corner of the World,” the club has hosted legends like Charlie Parker, Thelonious Monk, and
Miles Davis. Birdland will be a must-visit if you’re into the traditional, jazz club environment.
Here’s what you’ll need to know prior to your visit:
Birdland welcomes guests ages 10 and up, with children under 18 required to be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
A $20 food or drink minimum per person, per set applies. Tickets must be purchased in advance through Birdland’s official website.
Jazz is performed live every day, featuring both legendary and rising artists. Be sure to check the calendar on Birdland’s website to see the full schedule of performances and plan your visit accordingly.

LunÀtico
LunÁtico is an Italia n-owned gem in the heart of Brooklyn, where cocktails, cuisine, and
live music seemingly coexist to create an unforgettable experience. Founded in 2014 by
musicians Richard Julian, Arthur Kell, and Rosita Késs, the trio drew on their experiences
performing in bars and venues around the world, as well as their shared passion for food, wine, and spirits. Live music is played every day, starting at 9 PM, and no tickets are required. Cash is heavily encouraged to bring, however, as the musicians are supported through donations!
